Thank you for your interest in South Wellington Intermediate School. We are really excited to be a part of your child’s intermediate schooling.
To start the enrolment process you can complete the Enrolment Form online. To do this, you will need the School Code (2994) and a valid email address. When submitting the form you will also be requested to supply a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate or Passport and Immunisation records. This enrolment process will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Helpful tip: DO NOT use the auto form fill feature (such as your street address, email address, phone numbers etc) on your browser as this will reset the details you have previously entered into the form.
You can also complete the form offline. Simply use THIS LINK to download a copy of the enrolment form. Once completed enrolment forms can be mailed, couriered or delivered in person to the school at 30 Te Wharepouri St, Berhampore, Wellington 6021.
The following are the fees and donation required for 2021. We are pleased that we have been able to maintain the fees and donations at the same level as they were for 2017.
$40 (this covers things such as the Science Road Show, visiting dance & drama groups etc.)
$75 (this covers the take home components of the technology curriculum such as food, metals, wood & clay)
Other than optional and sporting events, we anticipate no extra in-school costs over and above these costs.
Information regarding payments of these fees is emailed to parents each term.
SWIS is a BYOD school and students are encouraged to bring devices to school to assist with their learning. You can find out what BYOD means, here.
Opportunities will always be provided for those students who do not bring a device, with classrooms having supplies of Chromebooks for student use.
If you are considering purchasing a device for use at school then we recommend that you read the document published by Netsafe as they are helpful in ensuring that devices are as safe as possible.
What device should students have?
We recognise that students are only at SWIS for 2 years so parents should also take into account any requirements that secondary schools may have if buying a brand new device.
BYOD Devices for use at South Wellington Intermediate School should have:
A screen greater than 10”
Be WIFI capable (recommend WiFI N minimum)
A working battery with a rated 6-hour use
A keyboard (can be portable/Bluetooth)
Up to date operating system and antivirus software
Must be able to run Google Chrome
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like further information.
The SWIS uniform consists of a number core items to cover all seasons, along with a number of optional items such as backpacks and hats. Some items are available in the school office, most can be purchased through our uniform supplier. Find out more about uniforms here.
South Wellington Intermediate uses the @school Parent Portal to enhance communication between the school and parents. Each user of @school Parent Portal must sign the Parent Portal section the SWIS enrolment form.
South Wellington Intermediate uses the environment immediately outside of the school grounds to enhance learning. This includes, but is not limited to, the Wellington Zoo, Martin Luckie Park, Macalister Park and Newtown Park.
This will require your child to be given permission to child participate in learning activities outside of the school grounds. Movement within this zone will be on foot with appropriate adult supervision at all times and where possible, teachers will advise parents before an activity off school grounds will be taking place.
