This email is to let you know of a staffing change. Donna Sloane is moving on from SWIS; her last day will be September 2nd. We wish her all the best as she moves into a new role with Te Kura, a wonderful opportunity for Donna.
You may be aware that sourcing new teaching staff is currently a challenge for schools, but we have managed to secure two excellent teachers to fill the roles created by Donna’s departure.
Roshni Parbhu, currently working a teacher release role, will be stepping into Room 8 as the Homeroom teacher. Roshni has worked very closely with the students in Room 8 as their Health and PE teacher. With this in mind, Roshni is well-placed to take on the Homeroom role from August 15th.
This overlap of timing will allow Roshni to meet with Donna and Alida and go over the assessment data and learning pathways of each student in the room. Roshni will also be joining Donna for the parent conferences this week, allowing you to meet her.
I have also secured Sophie Brooky, who will step into the position left by Roshni’s move into Room 8. Sophie has been an immense help at SWIS this year, working as one of our go-to relief teachers. She has worked across the school and knows our students exceptionally well.
